Guidelines on Use of eResources

The electronic resources accessible via the SUTD Library’s website have been licensed by SUTD for the use of its students, faculty, staff and researchers for non-commercial, learning, teaching and research purposes. These electronic resources, which include databases, ejournals and e-books, are governed by license agreements negotiated and signed between SUTD and the content providers.

Use of eResources : Know your Limits
The electronic resources accessible via the SUTD Library’s website have been licensed by SUTD for the use of its students, faculty, staff and researchers for non-commercial, learning, teaching and research purposes. These electronic resources, which include databases, ejournals and e-books, are governed by license agreements negotiated and signed between SUTD and the content providers.

Who Can Use the Licensed Content
Only SUTD Library authorised users authenticated via SUTD network can access the licensed content. These include Students, Faculty, Researchers and Staff.

How to Access:
SUTD students, faculty, researchers and staff may access these resources within SUTD or remotely using your SUTD Computer System login accounts. Non-SUTD personnel may access selected resources for personal non-commercial research only at computer terminals within SUTD Library

Who cannot access or use the licensed content
Non SUTD authorised personnel.

If any non-SUTD personnel require an article, please refer to the Librarian.
 

Important Terms and Conditions
Please observe the following and when in doubt please read the terms and conditions at each publisher’s website.

You are PROHIBITED from:
1. Downloading excessively; [For eg. The Singapore Copyright Act restricts you from downloading any more than one article from a journal or 10% of the number of pages or a chapter (whichever is less) for private study/research]
2. Systematic downloading of contents to a hard drive, server and/or other portable devices or printing these.
3. Using web-crawlers, robots, spiders, or any scripts/programs to perform large-scale downloading of contents;
4. Distributing licensed content to any party in any format. This includes publication, distribution and sale of the contents for commercial purposes.
5. Modifying the information such as authors’ names or publisher’s copyright notices or other identification that may appear in the licensed content

Where applicable, users of such content may be required to agree to the terms and conditions of use online prior to using the resources. For clarity, users should read the terms and conditions of use stated by each database provider.

You must observe and adhere to:
1. The copyright law; authorised Users may, in accordance with copyright laws, search, view, retrieve or print licensed materials for personal non-commercial use;
2. The use and distribution limits; when in doubt check the terms and conditions at the specific eResource/Database website;
3. The requirements of academic integrity and acknowledge all sources used using proper citation as required.

Disciplinary and/or Legal Action

SUTD users who violate any of the terms and conditions of use will be subjected to disciplinary action by University
